中国海洋大学2009年度孔子学院奖学金申请办法
“孔子学院奖学金”由孔子学院总部设立,旨在鼓励世界各国学生、汉语教师来华学习和研究汉语言文化。
一、颁发对象
1、各国孔子学院(课堂)的优秀学员;
2、在海外从事或计划从事汉语教学者;
3、参加孔子学院总部主办的各类汉语考试且成绩优异者;
4、“汉语桥”世界大、中学生中文比赛优秀参赛选手;
5、国外有关高校汉语学习者;
6、符合孔子学院总部特定协议规定条件的人士。
7、申请人须为非中国籍公民,身体健康。
二、奖学金类别及相应申请资格要求
1、进修奖学金
奖学金期限一般分为四周、一学期和一学年。申请人原则上应具备一定汉语基础,年龄一般不超过55周岁。
2、学位奖学金
l 学士学位奖学金:期限4-5学年。申请人应具有相当于中国高级中学毕业的学历,通过中国大学入学考试或经推荐被中国大学免试录取,年龄一般不超过35周岁。
本科专业有:汉语言;汉语言文学
l 硕士学位奖学金:期限2-3学年。申请人应具有学士学位或相当学历,年龄一般不超过45周岁。
硕士专业有:汉语言文字学;中国古代文学;中国现当代文学;历史地理学
三、奖学金内容、标准
1、 提供注册费、学费、基本教材费、住宿费(不含水电费)
2、 按月发给奖学金生活费,标准为:
a. 进修生:1400元
b. 学士学位生:1400元
c. 硕士学位生:1700元
3、 发给一次性安置费,标准为:
a. 在华学习时间满一学年(含)的:1500元
b. 在华学习时间在一学期(含)以上但不满一学年的:1000元。
4、 提供来华留学生综合保险:为在华奖学金生所投付的综合医疗保险。主要用于学生因大病住院或发生人身意外伤害所支付的费用。
四、申请途径
申请人直接向中国海洋大学留学生招生办公室提交申请。联系方式见第九条。
五、申请材料
申请人须按如下要求向奖学金招生单位提交相关材料:
1、 《孔子学院奖学金申请表》,需使用中文或英文完整填写或打印。申请表下载地址:
中国海洋大学:http://www.ouc.edu.cn/english/
2、 普通护照复印件(非外交或公务护照);
3、 申请陈述。包含申请人汉语学习背景、来华学习计划及目标等,不少于200字,用中文或英文打印并附申请人签名。申请攻读学士、硕士学位者请详述来华学习和研究计划,不少于800字。
4、 汉语水平证明。
申请语言进修者奖学金者,可提交汉语水平证书及成绩单、或其他汉语学习和教育证明;
5、 申请学士和硕士学位奖学金者,需提交HSK 6或6级以上证书 (申请本科汉语言专业奖学金者,需提交HSK 3级或3级以上证书)
6、 学历证明和成绩单(须由所在学校教务单位直接出具并加盖公章);申请学习本科专业者,须提供经过公证的高中毕业/会考成绩单。中英文以外文本需附经公证的中文或英文的译文;申请攻读硕士者,须提交两名教授或副教授的推荐信,用中文或英文书写;
7、 年龄不满18岁的申请人,需提交监护人保证书及应急联系方式;
8、 《外国人体格检查记录》。此表格由中国卫生检疫部门统一印制,仅限于来华学习时间超过6个月者,须用英文填写。缺项、未贴有本人照片或照片上未盖骑缝章、无医师和医院签字盖章的《外国人体格检查记录》无效;请自行保留原件以备申请签证。
9、 上述材料,申请者需提交一式二份(原件一份,复印件一份);
注:所有表格均用黑色钢笔或签字笔填写。如有不明之处,敬请咨询留学生招生办公室。
六、申请截止时间
申请材料请于2009年5月20日前邮寄到中国海洋大学国际教育交流中心招生办公室。
七、录取
1、 中国海洋大学对奖学金申请人的申请材料进行初次审核,并上报孔子学院总部审核。经孔子学院总部审核合格的申请材料将转送我校,由我校决定是否录取。
2、 已就读于孔子学院总部认可的中国普通高等学校和中学的申请人,由所在学校推荐,经孔子学院总部批准后可获得孔子学院奖学金资格。
3、 孔子学院总部在2009年6月底前将奖学金录取结果通知奖学金生招生单位。
八、报到
奖学金获得者2009年9月入学,须按录取学校规定的时间到指定接收单位报到。无法按期报到者,奖学金资格原则上不予保留。

Application Procedures for Confucius Institute Scholarship(2009)
OCEAN UNIVERSITY OF CHINA
“Confucius Institute Scholarship” is established by Confucius Institute Headquarters, with a goal of encouraging students and teachers worldwide, who are studying and/or teaching Chinese as a second language, to study Chinese language and culture in China.
Eligibility
1. Outstanding students from Confucius Institutes (Classrooms) worldwide;
2. Foreign teachers who are teaching or planning to teach Chinese as a second language;
3. Students who received distinguished grade from the Chinese Examination series held by Confucius Institute Headquarters;
4. Outstanding Contestants in “Chinese Bridge” Chinese Proficiency Competition;
5. Students studying Chinese as a second language in overseas universities or colleges;
6. Applicants who meet the requirements of other of Confucius Institute Headquarters’ agreements.
7. Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens in good health.
Categories and Specific Criteria
1. Scholarships for Short-term Study
Duration for these scholarships is generally divided into 4 weeks, 1 semester and 1 academic year. Applicants are required to have a basic knowledge Chinese language level, and under the age of 55.
2. Scholarships for Degrees
l Bachelor’s Degree Scholarship:4-5 academic years. Applicants are required to have a diploma comparable to a Chinese high school certificate, pass the Chinese university admission examination or be admitted by recommendation and without taking an admission exam, and under the age of 35. Specialities include: (1) Chinese Language and (2) Chinese Language and Literature.
l Master’s Degree Scholarship: 2-3 academic years. Applicants are required to have a bachelor degree or a diploma comparable to a bachelor degree, and under the age of 45. Specialities include (1) Chinese Philology, (2) Ancient Chinese Literature, (3) Modern and Contemporary Chinese Literature, and (4) Historical Geography. Please refer to Master Degree Programs for details.
The applicants should have passed HSK examinations and be awarded a certificate of Level 6 or above for all specialities except Chinese Language which requires a minimum Level 3.
Details of the Scholarships
1. Exempt from registration fee, tuition fee, fees for basic learning materials and accommodation on campus (Note: water and electricity fee should be afforded by students)
2. Monthly allowance are at the following rates ( CNY Yuan per month)
a. Short-term studying:CNY1,400
b. Bachelor’s Degree Students:CNY1,400
c. Master’s Degree Students:CNY1,700
d. Doctor’s Degree Students:CNY2,000
3. One-off settlement subsidy, at the following rates (CNY Yuan):
a. Students who will study in China for 1 academic year or more: CNY 1,500;
b. Students who will study in China more than 1 semester, but within 1 academic year: CNY 1,000.
4. Comprehensive Medical Insurance and Benefit Plan for International Students in China is provided by Confucius Institute Headquarters for the scholarship students, in case of hospitalization for serious diseases and accidental injuries.
How to Apply
Applicants are supposed to submit their application materials to Ocean University of China International Education Center (please refer to Contact Information).
Application Materials
Applicants must submit application materials to Ocean University of China International Education Center according to the following requirement (in duplicate):
1. Completed “Application Form for Confucius Institute Scholarship”,filled and printed, in Chinese or English. The form can be downloaded at http://www.ouc.edu.cn/english
2. A Photocopy of the passport page with your photo on it (none diplomatic or service passport);
3. Personal statements, indicating the applicant’s Chinese learning background, study plan and goals in China, etc. The statement should be no less than 200 words, printed in either Chinese or English and signed by the applicant. Detail research and study plan (additional paper can be attached ) no less than 800 words are required for students applying for master’s or doctorate degree;
4. Certificates of Chinese Proficiency, which could be Chinese Proficiency Certificates and transcripts, or other certificates of Chinese language learning and/or education; Bachelor’s Degree Scholarship applicants and Master Degree Scholarship applicants need to provide Certificate of HSK Level 6 or above (Applicants for Bachelor’s Degree in Chinese Language need to provide HSK Level 3 or above);
5. Diploma and transcripts (issued directly by the educational administration office of the school/university, and with a school cache); Applicants for undergraduate studies are required to provide notarized copy of senior high school transcripts. Documents in language other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized translations in Chinese or English; Applicants for Master’s Degree are required to submit two letters of recommendation in Chinese or English by professors or associated professors;
6. Applications under the age of 18 should submit Guarantee Statement and provide emergent contact of their legal guardians; Please download the attachment.
7. Photocopy of Foreigner Physical Examination Form (printed by Chinese quarantine authority and only for those whose period of studies in China lasts up to six months) filled in English. Incomplete records or those without the signature of the attending physician, the official stamp of the hospital or a sealed photograph of the applicant are invalid. (Note: Applicants should keep the original copy for future visa application)
8. The above mentioned application materials should be in duplicate (one original copy and one photocopy).
Note: Black ink pen or gel pen shall be used to fill all the forms. If any question in preparing the documents, please contact the Admission Office of International Education Center.
The above application materials should reach Ocean University of China International Education Center by May 20th, 2009.
Approval
1. Confucius Institute Headquarters will review all the application materials from Ocean University of China. The qualified applications will be forwarded to Ocean University of China and the final decision on whether to admit the applicants will be made by Ocean University of China;
2. Recommended by their current institution, scholarship applicants currently attending Chinese secondary schools or higher institutions could be officially awarded the Confucius Institute Scholarship;
3. Confucius Institute Headquarters will send the List of Acceptance to relevant recruiting institutions by the end of June, 2009;
Registration
Students who are awarded the scholarship are required to register in the designated institution within the specified deadline in September 2009. The privilege of the scholarship would be withdrawn, if one could not register in time.
